Metro Detroit Real Estate Homes For Sale

2863 Biddle Ave., Wyandotte, Michigan

Condo living doesn't get better than this.  In the current real estate market, buyers often over look condominiums for the added monthly cost of association dues.  In the Riverwalk condos on Biddle Ave. in Wyandotte, this is not the case.  Monthly dues are $182 which includes homeowner's insurance and water.  This is hardly different than paying homeowner's insurance for a residential property - and there is no snow shoveling or mowing.  The association is also responsible for the windows and roof when they need replacing or repairs.  The Riverwalk condos are adjacent to Bishop Park in downtown Wyandotte which runs along the Detroit River.  Enjoy a walk in the park and the convenience of being a half block from downtown Wyandotte with restaurants, shops and activities in the summer like the Wyandotte Street Fair.  Take a tour below of this outstanding condo currently for sale and a flyer with lots of pictures.  Also take a tour of Wyandotte and the scenic beauty of this city on the Detroit River.

Wyandotte Michigan - A Great Downriver Community on the Detroit River

Originally Wyandotte was the village for the Huron Indian tribe known as the Wyandot or Wendat.  They settled on the banks of the Detroit River but through a series of treaties, they were pushed west and out of Michigan.    One of the first white settlers to come to Wyandotte in the years after the Native Americans left was John Biddle, a Pennsylvania-born former Army Major who fought in the War of 1812.  West Jefferson Boulevard, which runs from downtown Detroit south to Monroe, is named Biddle Avenue (within Wyandotte's city limits.)

John Biddle created a farm he called "The Wyandotte" and sold the plot in 1854 to Eber Ward of the Eureka Iron Co.   It closed in 1892, but not before Wyandotte became a major hub in the chemical production industry, possibly because of the many salt mines deep below the city.  In 1854 Wyandotte became a village and in 1867 it was incorporated as a City.

Wyandotte is a walk able community with a well developed central business district including a picturesque downtown located right on the Detroit River near one of two waterfront parks.  The parks also include a pedestrian walk way, fishing pier and a nearby nine hole municipal waterfront golf course.  The city has a variety of events throughout the year including the annual art festival that takes place one week before the nationally known Ann Arbor Street Art Fair.  Being on the River adds to the appeal of Wyandotte with River Tours, the Detroit Heritage River Water Trail and nearby marinas.  This city is a great place to live with a wide range of housing options that will appeal to everyone.  From condos near the riverfront and new construction, you will also find historic homes built back in the early 1900s or before.  These homes have a lot of character and add to the overall charm of this Downriver community.
